Gary Harmon, Advisor

Gary continues an impressive course leading the creation of the next decades’ ideas and capabilities for acceptance and use years ahead of competition.  One of Gary’s project briefings was hand carried to the Whitehouse by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for immediate approval. This earned him the opportunity to integrate new aspects of space operations. At National War College, he wrote about the exploitation of oceans of data and information. As a Colonel promoted four years ahead of his peers, he led space communications studies for the Commander of both the Air Force and the US Space Command.

Gary operated space surveillance radars and served as the US Space Command Mission Director making operational recommendations as to whether action was needed if US space assets were being threatened.  He commanded the AF Space Command 45th Operations Group, Cape Canaveral, FL, leading three rocket launch squadrons; a weather squadron; an airfield operations squadron with air operations on base and on two islands plus support to eastern Florida air corridor operations; and a range squadron.  Over 25 months, his organization made 69 commercial, NASA, and military launches.  He led cost-free initiatives that increased the likelihood of launching on time from 53% to 80% despite Florida weather.  The operations required orchestrating, over 2700 personnel and more than $25 billion dollars of equipment and property. The 45th was recognized two consecutive years as the best operations group in Air Force Space Command with General Schriever trophies and received recognition as the best operations group in the 14th Air Force receiving the “Flying Tigers” Chennault trophy.

After his US Air Force career, Gary created transition paths for two major Defense Advanced Research Project Agency cutting edge technology projects across the “valley of death” to benefit the US Navy and the US Air Force.  He created his own business, Delta Q Dynamics, to promote new rocket performance beyond liquid fuel rockets for commercial growth of warehousing in space and lunar supplies sustainment.  He has guided significant integration of space mission architectures for space resiliency and sustainability and interorganizational cooperation—Gary’s trademark wherever he leads and advises.
